If you are someone affected by a retinal eye disease, how often have you wished to be able to describe what you see to others? Or have you ever wondered how someone with impaired vision sees the world? We hope this app can help you do that!
Thru My Eyes is a free iOS app, developed by ProQR Therapeutics as an interactive tool to support inherited retinal disease (IRD) awareness. While the app provides an artist’s impression using different filters, we have calibrated visual acuity (sharpness of vision) to validated scales to be as realistic as possible.
The app is still in its early stages and we plan to continue its development. For now it provides simulations of Leber’s congenital amaurosis (LCA) and retinitis pigmentosa (RP). We’re looking forward to add more eye diseases and functionality in the near future.
We hope that this app can be a conversation starter and helpful to educate others about the impact of IRDs on vision. We encourage you to explore the different features and share the app (and the videos and pictures) with your family and friends.
